To raise the profile of Zug’s cultural scene, foster connections and represent shared interests.
IG Kultur Zug was founded in 1995 to act as the organising body for the canton of Zug’s cultural calendar, which had been newly developed at the time. At the same time, it took on the task of coordinating the interests of Zug’s cultural scene and representing them to the public. To this end, the structure of an umbrella organisation was adopted.
Since July 2013, IG Kultur Zug has been fulfilling these tasks by operating the web portal www.zugkultur.ch and publishing the Zug Kultur Magazin. Previously, from January 1995 to June 2013, the Canton of Zug’s cultural calendar and a cultural agenda were published as planning tools.
The web portal provides an overview of current cultural events and exhibitions in Zug. It features profiles of Zug’s cultural associations and creative practitioners, and an archive of cultural news from Zug rounds off the content. The Zug Kultur magazine is published 10 times a year. In addition to a calendar and event recommendations, it reports on current cultural projects and topics in Zug. Cultural outreach programmes are also featured, and young people in Zug are given a voice in the ‘Jung&Jetzt’ column.
As an umbrella organisation, IG Kultur Zug supports Zug’s cultural and political life through cultural debates and public statements. Where necessary, it also gets involved in wider cultural projects.
Since 2018, Zug Kultur has been organising regular exchange meetings under the name ‘Kultur inklusiv’. Participants include representatives from major cultural institutions in Zug as well as organisations that champion the interests of people with disabilities.
All cultural associations, cultural institutions, creative professionals and anyone with an interest in culture are welcome to join IG Kultur Zug. If you’d like to work with us to help Zug’s cultural scene gain greater visibility and relevance, then you’ve come to the right place.
At our annual networking events, we explore current cultural topics and discuss together how we can support Zug’s cultural scene.
