About the Association

The Lorze Zug Industrial Trail Association (Verein Industriepfad Lorze) has been championing the industrial and cultural heritage of the Zug region for over three decades.

History & Background:
The association was founded in 1994 to raise and maintain public awareness of the industrial culture of the canton of Zug. In the mid-19th century, Zug – driven by the water power of the Lorze - developed into the most heavily industrialised canton in Central Switzerland. To bring this formative era to life, the association created the themed trail along the course of the Lorze as its flagship project.

Over the years, the association has continually expanded its activities: in addition to the original section of the river from Unterägeri to Hünenberg, the Stadt Zug Industrial Trail was created, documenting significant architectural landmarks such as Landis & Gyr and V-ZUG. In addition, the association regularly launches interdisciplinary research and educational projects (such as ‘Zug in the World’) and organises guided tours, exhibitions and publications.

Aims & Objectives:
In accordance with its statutes and mission statement, the association pursues the following core objectives:

- Preservation & Documentation: Identifying, safeguarding and researching historical documents, company archives, photographs and technical artefacts to prevent their destruction.

- Education & Inspiration: Bringing industrial heritage to life and reaching a wide audience through information panels, publications, guided tours and digital educational resources.

Connecting Culture & Nature: Highlighting the interplay between pioneering technical achievements, architecture and the natural landscape in the Lorzental valley.

- Platform for industrial culture: Bringing together the local community, those interested in culture, schools and the business sector to promote awareness of local history.
