A club is a legal entity that Art. 60 of the Swiss Civil Code (ZGB) describes as a corporate association of persons. Clubs may pursue a political, religious, scientific, artistic, charitable, social or other non-commercial purpose. A club may only have a commercial purpose if that purpose serves its non-profit aims. When drafting the statutes, the mandatory provisions of the Civil Code on legal entities in general (Art. 52 ff. ZGB) and on clubs in particular (Art. 60 ff. ZGB) must be observed. Further and more comprehensive information on founding a club is also available on the website of vitamin B, the specialist office for clubs.
